One of the most common questions I get from people is what an online business manager (OBM) is? or What will an OBM do for me?

I always say this with tongue-in-cheek, but this is true – you don’t need a business manager until you have a business to manage.

If you are busy doing tasks that you know you theoretically shouldn’t be doing or that you could have someone else do or take care of for you; then why aren’t you leveraging it?

By doing so, it will allow you to increase your time so that you can focus on creating additional revenue streams, create space to serve more clients or take time off to create memories with your loved ones. Don’t be afraid to delegate projects to an OBM that can oversee projects given to the team.

Firstly, if you are a type-A personality, you will have to let go of the need for control so you can focus your attention where you should be spending your time. As a result, you will be able to move forward, your business will see growth, and you will have the opportunity to experience some freedom – time, emotional, and financial freedom.

It would be best if you had the support of a coach or a mentor or someone who can help you define your business, set goals, scale your business strategically, and support you with marketing and sales for business growth.

Even though I believe that most of us love our work, we don’t want to be working 24/7. Therefore, this is where a team comes into play, and outsourcing becomes your new best friend. I wouldn’t say I like to use the term “outsourcing” merely because I want everyone on my team to feel part of the company whether they’re freelancer, a contractor, or a full-time employee. So, I recommend you view it the same way too.

When it comes to outsourcing and delegating tasks it can be confusing; therefore, I’ll share with you ten tasks that you could essentially outsource or delegate to an OBM so that you can grow, scale your business, and experience a little more freedom.

  1. An OBM can manage your project to make sure that things get done right so that you can focus on the tasks that only you can complete.
  2. They can manage your day to day operations, making sure you have the right systems in place so that everything can be efficient, effective, and flow smoothly with as much automation as possible.
  3. An OBM could also help you put together testing strategies for a client. Of course, they will need to understand the project and have knowledge of your process.
  4. When it comes to staff, you could get an OBM to help you hire and qualify candidates from your job applications. You will need a process, but once you set up this process and inform your OBM, it will be quite easy for them to handle.
  5. If you picture an organizational chart, there’s you at the top; there’s the OBM in the middle and everybody else that’s part of the team at the bottom.  Anybody who’s doing some work for the company will report to and work directly with the OBM as opposed to you, so that will free up more of your time.
  6. Also, delegate answering core questions from team members or clients to an OBM. You want to have a set process and even some canned responses prepared, but once you have that process in place, they can handle it.
  7. When it comes to business, you could delegate your customer service tasks as well. I know your business is your baby, but it is time to let go of the need to control and stop micromanaging every job your company must complete. An OBM can handle this for you as your happiness concierge.
  8. You could also have an OBM reach out to the prospects, onboard new clients, and reach out to PR.
  9. You could also ask the OBM to follow up with all your clients by performing courtesy check-ins or quality assurance calls. This activity will keep your clients engaged, satisfied, and it also doesn’t take up your precious time.
  10. Even, then, of course, there are the metrics. It’s tracking and measuring what matters when it comes to marketing and sales. An OBM can track and analyze the numbers to see what’s going on in the business and provide insights into what is or isn’t working.

As you can see, there are a variety of tasks that you can delegate to an OBM. To start, choose a few of them to delegate and ease into them taking on more tasks. Remember, it will free up your time so you can grow and scale your business, take time off, or whatever your heart desires.
